It's rare. . .

..to get a compliment that isn't in some way backhanded.

We had just finished shooting an assignment for a class. As a token of gratitude, I took my friends/cast to dinner at Popeye's. It's a rule: You work for me, you get chicken. And there, over 30 pieces of spicy, my lead says, "It was cool watching you steamroller everyone." Another adds, "Yeah, you made everyone think you you were giving them a choice and that they weren't just doing what you were telling them. It was pretty amazing."

Floored by the sentiments, I added three large sides to the collective order. Red Beans and Rice, for all.

Let's hear some of these backhanded compliments next. I have one, if you'd like me to share. A customer/stalker told me the other day that I'd lost weight. I told him that I didn't think I had. He says, "Sure you have, your butt's not as big as it used to be." I said, "Uh, I have some stuff to do," and walked off. Your turn!
